Luigi Badano

MD, PhD, FESC, FACC, Honorray FASE, Honorary FEACVI Prof Badano currently serves as the director of the cardiovascular imaging unit at the Istituto Italiano di Auxologia, IRCCS, and a professor of cardiovascular imaging at the Department of medicine and surgery of the University of Milano-Bicocca, Milan, Italy. Prof Badano’s clinical interests include native and prosthetic valvular heart disease, right ventricular and atrial function, with research interests in three-dimensional and deformation imaging echocardiography and cardiac mechanics. Prof Badano is a member of the Italian Society of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), and a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology. Prof Badano is a regular invited speaker at annual ESC, ACC, ASE and EuroEcho scientific meetings. He has more than 300 peer reviewed publications, authored 9 books about echocardiography and cardiovascular imaging and is past-president of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging. He is honorary member of the Hungarian society of cardiology, Romanian Society of Cardiology, Korean Society of Cardiology and British Society of Echocardiography. Prof Badano is honorary Fellow of both the American Society of Echocardiography and the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging. In 2013, he was awarded with the silver medal of the European Society of Cardiology for his clinical and research activity and his commitment as President of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging from 2010 to 2012. In 2018 and 2019, Prof Badano has been listed among the Highly Cited Researchers to have produced multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in Web of Science. |
