Course Director: Adjunct Assistant Professor Senior Consultant, Cardiology National Heart Centre Singapore, Singapore Dr. Ewe See Hooi is a Senior Consultant with the Department of Cardiology at the National Heart Centre Singapore. Dr. Ewe See Hooi graduated from The University of Sydney with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (Honours Class I) in 2001. Upon completion of her cardiology training in Singapore, she further embarked on a two-year fellowship in cardiac imaging at the Leiden University Medical Centre, in the Netherlands. Over there, she learnt the applications of different cardiac imaging techniques to various clinical topics in the field of echocardiology (strain imaging and 3-dimensional imaging), cardiac computed tomography (in structural heart diseases) and magnetic resonance imaging (in the assessment of valvular diseases). Dr. Ewe has a special research interest in aortic valve disease (both stenosis and regurgitation) and transcatheter valve intervention, applying the advanced multimodality imaging techniques such as 3D echocardiography and strain imaging, multislice computed tomography, for better patient selection and understanding of the clinical impact of this emerging transcatheter valve therapy in patients with severe aortic valvular stenosis. In particular, her first-author publications include multimodality imaging in patient selection for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), aortic valve calcification, prosthesis patient mismatch, and clinical outcomes and assessment of aortic regurgitation after TAVI. Since 2011, she has been the principal echocardiographer in the structural heart program at the National Heart Centre Singapore with the focus on advanced imaging in areas of transcatheter mitral valve repair and aortic valve implantation. |
